One time, I came to my uncle apartment and he showed me a new cuisine – Turnip cake (Radish Cake). Er, I’ve never tried this before and I don’t like radish so I’m not impressed with that cake much. But recently, when I was at the supermarket I noticed the ingredients of frozen radish cake and kind of ….*WOW, this is not bad at all, it may taste good with the coconut…* I couldn’t find the price and forgot to take a pic of it…
So, next delicious cuisine is Radish Cake (Bánh Củ Cải)
Turnip cake is a Chinese dim sum dish made of shredded radish and plain rice flour.
It is commonly served in Cantonese yum cha and is usually cut into square-shaped slices and sometimes pan-fried before serving. Each pan-fried cake has a thin crunchy layer on the outside from frying, and soft on the inside. The non-fried version is soft overall. It is one of the standard dishes found in the dim sum cuisine of Hong Kong, China, and overseas Chinatown restaurants. It is also commonly eaten during Chinese New Year, since radish is a homophone for “good fortune” in Hokkien.]In Taiwan, turnip cake is also commonly eaten as part of a breakfast.
II. Receipt (The conclusion from so many sources)
800gr shredded white radish (củ cải chắc, nặng, mộng nước) (for steamed use more radish, for fried use more floor hmm, I think the soften or harden of the cake depend on this rate I like it would be soft so… more Radish and water, I think I will try with the ratio 2:1)
Rice flour (with the rate 1 flour – 2 water) tapioca flour (bột mì) *just a little*
Dried shrimps, softened and roughly chopped
Fried shallots, peanuts cooked well, sugar, pepper, salt
